If you’ve never attended the weekly Farmers’ Market in Downtown Bel Air, you don’t know what you’re missing!  Not only can you get farm fresh, locally grown, in-season produce, you can also purchase local meats, eggs, dairy products and baked goods. And there is just something to be said for knowing the kind, hard-working people that grow your food.  This year, the Market has added a local winery to the mix each week so you can even choose the perfect wine to go with your locally grown ingredients.

Maybe you’re a gardener or seeing fresh cut flowers on your kitchen table every day brings a smile to your face.  From spring pansies to fall mums, you can add annuals and perennials to your yard with the helpful guidance of the growers.  Several vendors also offer fresh cut bouquets sure to brighten your day.

If you’re looking for something more than what to put on the dinner table, the Bel Air Farmers’ Market won’t disappoint you.  You can catch some live music, and April and October are Local Art Months with plenty of artisans on hand with handcrafted jewelry, pottery, paintings and more.  Great for gift giving or as additions to your own home.

The Bel Air Farmers’ Market takes place in the Mary Risteau Courthouse parking lot on Bond Street and is open from 7-11am each Saturday from April 12th – November 22nd.  For more information on the vendors who participate, go to http://www.belairfarmersmarket.com.

If Saturdays don’t work for you, the Bel Air Downtown Alliance has partnered with the Town of Bel Air and The Mill to bring a monthly “Main St. Market” market to Office Street.  New this year, this market will be held the third Sunday of each month May through October from 11:00am – 3:00pm.  This Sunday market will showcase local artisans, crafters, and local growers and producers along with entertainment including live music, demonstrations, and activities.  It is a great opportunity for people to stroll around in downtown Bel Air on a Sunday afternoon!

As if putting high quality food on your table wasn’t enough, shopping at the Market is also great for the environment and supports our local economy. It’s a great place to catch up with neighbors and old friends too. So join us next week, won’t you?  No two weeks are the same so be sure to come often!
