The Historical Society of Harford County proudly presents:
“Life and Death Through the Eyes of a Hero: The Diaries of
Herbert Ray McCommons 1932-1943″
A Harford Historical Bulletin: Special Edition
Harford County native and Havre de Grace resident, Herbert Ray
McCommons was a husband, father, brother, WWI veteran, and
devoted friend who truly cared about his family and community. His
diaries describe the highs and lows of Herbert’s life during the latter
years of The Great Depression and Prohibition, leading up to and
during the early years of World War II. They also provide readers a
rare, personal perspective of the impact people and historic events
had on someone who was born more than 125 years ago.
Join us as author Ken Sterner discusses this unique window to
Harford history, shares key themes, and signs copies of the book.
Herbert McCommon’s original diaries will also be on display for the
event!
