“Trials & Triumphs: A History of the African American Experience in Harford County,” offers a rich tapestry of African American voices and experiences woven into the fabric of our collective Harford heritage.
After traveling throughout Harford County in 2025, “Trials & Triumphs” will be on display at the Historical Society of Harford County from July 7 through August 1. Visitors will be able to read a letter by enslaved Annie Davis written to President Lincoln, march with Sgt. Alfred B. Hilton across a field of battle, ride with Sonny Thornton in a daring horse race, sing along with Nella Dodds to a classic pop hit, and much more.
“Trials & Triumphs” will be on view Mondays – Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm with daily exhibit tours at 12:30 pm. FREE admission.
