Independent Brewing Company Features Local Art

independent brewing 1Driving down Main Street over the weekend, it was easy to see that there is a new “hot spot” in Bel Air.  Independent Brewing opened at 418 North Main Street in late October and is a welcome addition to the North end of town. You’ll love the feeling of community you get when you walk through the door. From a friendly and knowledgeable face behind the bar, to the cyclists you pass on your way out carefully parking their bikes on the brewery inspired bike rack, you’re certain to feel right at home.

The variety of house made craft beer isn’t the only locally made item available.  Phil Rhudy, owner of Independent Brewing Company, has worked with the Harford Artists’ Association to make local art work available as well.  You’ll find the walls of the brewery lined with original artwork making the space even more inviting.

When asked why he chose local art to round out the welcoming feeling you get when you enter the brewery, Phil said, “My wife is an artist so we are aware that there are some great artists and work out there that needs to be seen.  We are all about community and want to do what we can to support the arts and community.  It is a perfect relationship, we give them a cool space to display and sell, we get great art on the walls.”

Going forward, Phil plans to have a “gallery opening” where artists will be on hand to discuss and sell their work.  With a nationwide trend to buy goods that are produced locally, this addition to the brewery is a perfect fit. Consumers are seeking out locally sourced products and they want to have a personal relationship with the person who makes the items they are bringing into their homes.  Delicious craft beer and beautiful locally made art are no exception.

Head there on the weekend and you’re also likely to catch a performance by talented local musicians as well. For more information about Independent Brewing Company, go to their website at www.independentbrew.com
