SUMMARY:Christmas Train Garden
DESCRIPTION:Get into the Christmas spirit with a trip through the magical and unique train garden designed especially for Bel Air! The garden features a lighted Christmas train\, ice skaters\, a  circus and plenty of town and countryside scenes that are sure to delight people of every age! You can even participate in a scavenger hunt to find items located throughout the garden. Admission is free. The train garden will be open starting the Friday after Thanksgiving during the following hours: \nNovember 25: 5:00pm – 8:30pm \nNovember 26: 2:00pm – 8:30pm \nDecember 1: 5:00pm – 8:00pm \nDecember 2: 5:00pm – 8:30pm \nDecember 3: 2:00pm – 8:30pm \nDecember 4: 12:00pm – 6:00pm (parking and access is limited this day between 2-5pm due to the Bel Air Christmas Parade) \nDecember 8: 5:00pm – 8:00pm \nDecember 9: 5:00pm – 8:30pm \nDecember 10: 2:00pm – 8:30pm \nDecember 15: 5:00pm – 8:00pm \nDecember 16: 5:00pm – 8:30pm \nDecember 17: 2:00pm – 8:30pm \nSpecial thanks to volunteer and town resident\, Joe Bragg\, and his team of volunteers for bringing this amazing display to life for our community.

Main Street).  \n1)  Session 1 — New Orleans (Monday\, November 7\, 2022) \nWe’ll discuss the origins of jazz in the cultural melting pot of New Orleans at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries.  We’ll talk about such mythical early figures as Buddy Bolden\, cornetist Joe “King” Oliver\, creole clarinetist Sidney Bechet\, and piano pioneer Jelly Roll Morton. \n2)  Session 2 — Chicago (Monday\, November 14\, 2022) \nIn the late 1910’s and early 1920’s\, the epicenter of American jazz shifted northward\, up the Mississippi river\, and ended up in Chicago.  We’ll talk about (and listen to) some of the most significant recordings of this time period\, including some made by a young upstart from New Orleans named Louis Armstrong. \n3)  Session 3 — New York (Monday\, November 21\, 2022) \nBy the dawn of the 1930’s\, the capital of American jazz had changed once more\, landing in New York\, at the height of the Harlem Renaissance.  We’ll learn about the great Harlem stride pianists\, such as James P. Johnson\, Willie “The Lion” Smith\, and Fats Waller\, as well as the unsung architect of the big band swing sound\, Fletcher Henderson. \nRegister Online\, call 440-638-4506\, or email jpotler@belairmd.org with the total attendance/name for the reservation. \nThis series is supported in part by the Bel Air Arts & Entertainment District and the Maryland State Arts Council.
