If you wish to take both sessions from 6-7 and 7-8pm\, you must register separately for both.\nDance Lessons-FALL 2023 (6 Week Session Oct/Nov) Tickets\, Wed\, Oct 11\, 2023 at 6:00 PM | Eventbrite \n6-7pm Beginner East Coast Swing/Salsa:\nEast Coast Swing (4 weeks of East Coast Swing) \nThe East Coast Swing is a classic dance that is fun\, and versatile. It is one of the most popular of all of the swing dances. There are many variations of Swing and this dance is sometimes called by other names including: Jive\, Jitterbug\, and Lindy Hop. \nSalsa (2 weeks Introduction to Salsa) \nSalsa is a Latin dance\, associated with the music genre of the same name\, which was first popularized in the United States in the 1960s in New York City. This fun and energetic dance is the most popular of all the Latin dances because it is easy to learn and is great for all ages. Basic step and turns for the leader and follower. \n7-8pm Beginner West Coast Swing\nWest Coast Swing is a partner dance with roots in the Lindy Hop. It is characterized by an elastic look that results from its extension-compression technique of partner connection and is danced primarily in a slotted area on the dance floor. We will learn basic steps\, side passes\, and whips.

Main Street). Free admission\, but advance reservation is required. \nRoots of the Blues: A Lifelong Learning Series Tickets\, Multiple Dates | Eventbrite \nExplore the origins of the blues in post-Reconstruction times and discuss musicians such as W.C. Handy\, Ma Rainey\, Bessie Smith\, Robert Johnson\, and others. Trace the history of the northward migration to Chicago\, culminating in the music Muddy Waters (1950s). Recordings\, video excerpts\, and live performances from the instructor will keep these presentations as lively and interesting as the music itself.  Seth Kibel is one of the Mid-Atlantic’s premier woodwind specialists\, working with some of the best bands in klezmer\, jazz\, swing\, and more. Wowing audiences on clarinet\, saxophone\, and flute\, Seth has made a name for himself in the Washington/Baltimore region\, and beyond. When he’s not performing\, Seth frequently lectures on a variety of topics in music history for numerous institutions\, including the Osher Lifelong Learning programs at Johns Hopkins and Towson Universities. www.sethkibel.com. \n3) Session 3 — Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters (Tuesday\, October 24\, 2023) \nThrough life and music of the legendary Robert Johnson\, we’ll be able to examine the history and evolution of the Mississippi Delta blues\, culminating in the life and music of Muddy Waters\, who took the Delta Blues north to Chicago\, plugged it in\, and changed music history in the process. \nThis series is supported in part by the Bel Air Arts & Entertainment District and the Maryland State Arts Council. \n
