It is one of the most popular of all of the swing dances. There are many variations of Swing and this dance is sometimes called by other names including: Jive\, Jitterbug\, and Lindy Hop. \nRumba is sometimes known as the ‘Latin Waltz.’ Rumba is danced to music in 4/4 time and the count of the steps is slow-quick-quick. \nAbout the Instructor\, Kristen Renshaw \nKristen discovered her passion for ballroom dancing in 2005 after starting at SwingTime Ballroom. She has choreographed countless dances for wedding couples\, introduced dozens of people to Ballroom Dancesport competitions\, and developed a youth ballroom track for dance students and recreational dancers.

DESCRIPTION:The Society will celebrate Black History Month with a special presentation by Will Schwarz\, President of the Maryland Lynching Memorial project. Mr. Schwarz will describe the purpose and findings of the Memorial Lynching project and detail the stories of three known racial terror lynchings in Harford County – Isaac Moore (1868)\, Jim Quinn (1869)\, and Lewis Harris (1900). The soil jars memorializing the victims in Harford County that were collected for the Memorial Project ceremony in 2022 are now on display at the Historical Society.

Don’t miss this exhibition that was 3 1/2 years in the making! (Note: Train will not be running.)\n\nAccompanying the exhibition will be paintings created by the Wednesday Artists Group expressly to compliment the small aesthetic of the installation.\nExhibit opens on Sunday\, February 11 from 11 am to 3 pm\, and will be on view each Wednesday from 1 to 5 pm through March 27.
