As the Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra launches its milestone 50th Season with “50 Seasons of Sound & Community,” audiences are invited to experience a special evening on October 10 at 7 p.m. that celebrates the orchestra’s rich history and enduring connection to our region. The program features music by composers who have played an important role in the orchestra’s journey, including William Grant Still, Amanda Harberg, Kile Smith, and Sir Malcolm Arnold, alongside beloved works by Vaughan Williams and Fauré that were performed at the orchestra’s very first concert. Special guest artists Carolyn Black-Sotir, soprano, and conductor JoAnna Cochenet will join the orchestra for this memorable Golden Season performance.
Beyond the music, the evening offers opportunities to connect with the local arts community. The performance takes place at Bel Air High School, located at 100 Heighe Street. The lobby opens at 6:15 p.m., welcoming concertgoers to enjoy refreshments from Coffee Coffee and browse artwork, books, and handcrafted goods from local vendors. A free pre-concert talk begins at 6:30 p.m., providing audiences with additional insight into the evening’s repertoire and the stories behind the music.
As one of the region’s premier performing arts organizations, the Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra continues to bring exceptional musical experiences to Harford County while fostering a sense of community through the arts. Whether you are a longtime supporter or attending for the first time, this celebratory concert is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a landmark season honoring five decades of music, artistry, and connection. Tickets are available online, with free admission for children ages 10 and under with a reserved ticket.
