Cozying Up for Christmas in Bel Air

Cozying Up for Christmas in Bel Air

The air is getting colder, evergreens are moving indoors, and Bel Air is preparing for another magical holiday season. Nothing beats the small town feeling during the Christmas season, from Small Business Saturday (the day after Black Friday, for the uninitiated), to the big day itself, there’s no shortage of things to do that will give you that home for the holidays fix. The town is gearing up for some of its most beloved traditions, as well as some new ones during Christmas in Bel Air.

The holiday calendar includes events unique to the season, and some of our favorite monthly events, with a holly and mistletoe twist. The first weekend of December is loaded with cheer. The Liriodendron’s holiday open house extends the whole first weekend of December. Visitors can stop by December 1st – 3rd between noon and 7:30 pm to enjoy the historic mansion’s holiday decorations and to be delighted by the model trains which will take over their usual rotating art exhibit. On Saturday, December 2nd, the Bel Air Armory will host more than 40 local artists for the Authors & Artists Holiday Gift Sale while the Harford Artists Gallery (located behind the Armory in Armory Marketplace) will be holding their Holiday Open House for even more local artists’ work. On Sunday, we’ll be breaking out hats and gloves to enjoy the 28th annual Christmas Parade and tree lighting along Main Street with a community bonfire, hot cocoa and carols in Shamrock Park immediately following as we countdown to the lighting of the Town tree.

The Armory will continue to be a hub of local Arts and Entertainment events throughout the season. From choral performances to the Chesapeake Ballet performing the Nutcracker, there will be more than enough spirit to go around. And if your shopping style is more last minute, stop by the Armory on December 23rd for the Holiday Arts & Crafts show.

In between events, check out everything else Bel Air has to offer; from shopping to dining, anyone can take care of their entire holiday to-do list without leaving the Town of Bel Air.
