Ken Karlic Hosts First Friday Art Show

Ken_PaintingWildwoodKen Karlic Artist Studio + Gallery is the latest addition to the Town of Bel Air Arts and Entertainment District. Ken is “an award winning watercolor artist, dedicated plein air painter and enthusiastic teacher.”   As part of the grand opening of his new 1,000 square foot gallery on Main Street, Ken has partnered with the Center for the Arts and will be hosting an exhibit featuring over 100 plein air paintings.  Plein air painting is the art of painting outdoors and capturing the actual conditions at the time of the artists’ work.

The gallery opening and exhibit reception will be held on May 6th as the Bel Air Downtown Alliance kicks off their season of First Fridays for 2016. For the event, Ken has gathered 35 artists from the mid-Atlantic region to showcase their original plein air paintings.

Ken’s opening reception will be held May 6th from 5:00 – 8:30pm with beer and wine courtesy of Friendship Wine and Liquor and a live musical performance by No Lawn Chairs. Artist Michelle Byrne will be holding a demonstration from 6:00 – 8:00pm and Center for the Arts will host a happy hour immediately following the opening in one of the neighboring bars/restaurants.

The exhibit will run from May 6 – June 30. We hope you will stop by to enjoy the art on display in Ken’s studio and gallery. For more information on his work and the opening of the gallery, visit Ken’s website at www.kenkarlic.com. Please join the A&E District in welcoming Ken to Bel Air!
